DECEMBER - Happy Holidays!

A nice picture of us as we meet with friends from the Exxon / Valero retirees Club.

FALL - A revised  Family Unit

Our lives were in turmoil for a few months as we deal with Peter and Zia's separation.  She has moved out and they have a 50-50 custody agreement. Tough to smile, but they did on an outing to the Union Square ice rink in December.

SEPTEMBER - Maui Vacation and Honeymoon

Here we are at our favorite luncheon restaurant, just before leaving to go back home. Not much snorkeling or beach time as Jo recovers from her fall. The humidity and good vibes from the Ocean helped.

AUGUST - 50th Anniversary

Actually from mid July to September 3, we make plans for celebrating the occasion of our 50th wedding anniversary. Jo fell 3 days beforehand, and cracked 2 ribs as well as very bad scrapes to her knees.  But she made it to Sunday church on time with about 120 of our good friends, where they witnessed the renewal of our vows.

JULY - Happy 7th Birthday

Yet another year for an epic birthday party and Grandpa John's and Grandma Jo's. Click picture or link for more.

JUNE - Mexico Vacation

Jo-Ann meets Catharine in Puerta Vallarta  for a week of celebration and relaxation after graduation.

MAY - Graduation in Pennsylvania

The family heads to Pennsylvania for a long weekend to share in the joy and celebration of Catharine's graduation from Cedar Crest College. We have a separate page devoted to this momentous occasion.  Click on link for more!

APRIL - Volunteering

Jo-Ann too keeps very busy as a volunteer at the County hospital.  Here she gets some newspaper recognition for 'working' two full days a week for over 700 hours last year. She helps with new volunteer applications, screening and orientations as well as the front desk when things get busy.

MARCH - Volunteering

John has been volunteering pretty  regularly with the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Lately it has been mostly electrical work.  Here he helps to run new power to a temporary power pole for new construction work. Click link for more of John's Habitat activities.

FEBRUARY to APRIL - Tax Time!

For the 10th year now, John volunteers to help those in need prepare their tax returns through the IRS's sponsored volunteer program, both VITA and Tax-Aide. This is the 2nd year at the Pittsburg, CA Senior Center along with the AARP tax team shown here.  He is now becoming good 'friends' with some of the clients.

JANUARY & FEBRUARY - The Lost Months

Jo-Ann's leg wound from being rammed by a shopping cart last December is not healing.  Off to the Wound Clinic where Apligraph engineering skin is applied. No volunteering these months!  She must stay home and keep her leg elevated.  Showering is tough, but a plastic wrapper shown here does the trick.
