Mini-Project - Adirondack Chairs

ADIRONDACK

Peter asks if John has ever made lawn chairs in the Adirondack style. The answer is NO!  But he has some chairs he made in New Jersey back in 1969 that finally need replacing.  So here is the tale of that project.

RECYCLE

The chairs from New Jersey include some 40 year old Redwood that is OK except for the ends.  SO, we'll recycle those pieces.

PROTOTYPE

A first pass takes a few days and offers a pattern for addition work.  Peter says he likes the style and we make a date.

HELPER

John has dome some pre-cutting, but here is still lots to do.

TESTING

OK - the front part is done.  Peter just has to try it out and says it's like sitting on a toilet.

BANDSAW

Peter has never had much of a chance to use the tool that Jo-Ann purchased a few Christmas ago. He gains new respect for a great tool.

FIRST TEST

With a partial unit in the background, the back is done and we have to check out the sitting.  It's great!!

AGREED

John concurs.

READY TO GO

OK - time for a final shot of content workers taking a final break before clean up.

HAPPY TRAILS

Peter loads up the truck with new chairs that are bound to be the envy of every one he passes on the bay bridge.  Now just a few finishing touches and it's "made in the shade".

FINAL

Peter does some final assembly and painting. They made it through the winter and provide great seating around the fire pit in the springtime.
