DECEMBER
Christmas is not quite the same this
year. We set up the iPad as a
camera and then display on the big
TV. The girls were so loving
on their end sharing duties as
'camera operators' as each of them
opened their presents.

Cookie trays for friends and neighbors
are still another a long-standing tradition for Jo-Ann. This year is
no exception. But it is a lot of work and we miss the help of
the grandchildren in assembling the final plates.
NOVEMBER -
A
long-standing tradition is cooking
the annual turkey and then wrapping
it in a blanket for a trip to Jo's
brother's home in Woodside. No
travel or gathering this year, but
it still is the best way to cook the
bird. Not turkey in the straw,
but turkey in the trunk.

So here is a Zoom call with family on
Thanksgiving. Just not the same as in person hugs!
OCTOBER -
First day with new braces - in color!
Here Lillian proudly smiles before the pain sets in.

What
is this mess? John undersoes
the torture of an overnight sleep
test for Sleep Apnea. He is wired
with what seems to be 1000 sensors.
Sure enough, this proves what Jo-Ann
has been saying all along and for a
lot less $$. So now a mask and
machine allows her to sleep in peace
while only being mildly distracting
for John.
SEPTEMBER -
School
days. What a bummer that after a
summer in quarantine, this is the
best Lillian can do in seeing
friends at school again.
JULY -
Happy
birthday. The pandemic slows a bit
and the girls get an overnight with
Dad and Ryan at Safari West in
Sonoma. And then horseback
riding in the way home!
APRIL -
In the
height of the initial phase of the
pandemic John refinances a mortgage
and observes the PPE with gloves and
a HEPA mask he had from work. The
rock is a specail tool to keep all
the papers from blowing away.
The notary sat in the car and
communicated by phone on which pages
needed signing.
MARCH -
Another wedding in our yard. Our
next door neighbors lost their
wedding venue on the first day of
the California lockdown. But all was
set to go and the reception was
still a go. At 1:00 they came
to our back door and asked to use
our yard. Of course! Now they
know why there is a gate in out back
yard fence for such emergencies.
FEBRUARY -
Life is good before the pandemic. This
is the last time we see our grandchildren in person as we arrange
for new bikes which will hopefully last until college. Helmets
will probably need to be renewed.
