Old Haunts in Upstate New York

A wedding in John's old home town of Saratoga Springs prompts a visit to Upstate New York.  Here are some of the highlights.  Click on any picture for a larger size.  Use the 'back' button to return

Some Friends

Jo-Ann takes a moment to sit for a photo opportunity with some friends at their estate in Hyde Park New York. This is, of course, hollowed ground for some of the Democratic Faithful.  We'll leave to you readers to decide if this a tourist stop or a pilgrimage.

Old Friends

The 'small world' story of the trip is touring the street where John Lived as 10 year old, stopping by the nearest house and seeing BFF, Peter Saxon, working on his motorcycle in his garage.  We had not seen each other since 1957.  Peter has grown vertically - John in both dimensions.

Now for the Real Purpose of the Trip

Laura Lee Linder is an old friend from college days and her daughter is getting married.  Laura was at our wedding and is Peter's Godmother.  Unlike Peter Saxon, we have kept in touch and it was wonder-ful to see a good friend on such a happy day!

Hasn't Changed a Bit

The Algonquin Bar and Rest-aurant on Lake George was the scene of more than one long night during John's college days.  Jo-Ann admires one of the old lake boats which frequent the spot for lunch.

Old Home in Albany

Just a quick photo opportunity in front of the Lee home from 1959 to 1979.  Current Architects could take a lesson from this house how to make a 6 bedroom, 2-1/2 bath home look so small.  John even framed in a part of the basement for his own teenage 'den'.

Cath's Home

A trip to New York would not be complete without a visit to Catharine's house in Carmel, NY.  Here is the tool board in the garage, one of the important items on the to-do list that John enjoys so much.

Farewell

Before our return, we have a self portrait in front of the knick-knack box which we hung on the wall.  We had a wonderful stay, but it's nice to be back home.
