Over the years there have been more than one Wedding in our yard. Here is a brief summary of those joyful moments.
1992 - John and Jo's 25th Anniversary Reception We had a reaffirmation service at Grace Church and then close friends and family gathered in the yard for more socializing. Here is Jo-Ann's Mother, Casilda, chatting by the pond. She arrived very unexpectedly and it was a great surprise.

2007 - John and Jo's 40th Anniversary Reaffirmation Fourty is not a particularly magic number, but you never know how spry you'll be at the 50th Anniversary. So we have a short reaffirmation of wedding vows. We had about 100 or so and that is a pretty big undertaking. Thanks to our friend Colleen Kraus, who acted as 'wedding coordinator', it went off without a hitch and we really enjoyed the time. Note that Jo-Ann is in her original Wedding Dress for the 3rd time! |
One day while volunteering at Habitat, one of the Americorps helpers asks that since she visited our home for the Annual Americorp party, could she use our venue for the upcoming wedding? No problem, been there, done that. So about 80 this time and it went on untiol the wee hours. Neighbors were prepared and did not complain (who would do that on a wedding day?) |
2010 - Chrissy and Steve This only account for a 1/2 wedding. We hosted a 'welcome back from your honeymoon' for friends from Habitat. Only about 30 people but we had wonderful stories about the trip to New Zealand and many toasts. |
Our neighbors for many years take advantage of the gate between our back yards and celebrate their marriage in our 'front 40'. This time they use the pines as a natural 'altar' of nature. Wear and tear was low and a good time was had by all. But we were up early the next day helping to load up tables and chairs. |
2020 Sam and John When Sam and John moved in next door in back, John and Kristen told them what nice neighbors they had and related the story of their wedding. On the day of the Pandemic closure, their arranged wedding venue cancelled. But the reception was still on. What to do? So they knocked on the door at 1:30 and arranged to divert their guests to their home. Then through the back gate to the pond area. All by 3:00!!
